Bowman Bay, Deception Pass State Park

Bowman Bay Paddle Boarding and Kayaking

Deception Pass State Park provides multiple paddle routes for all types of skill levels and you can consider Bowman’s Bay by far the best place to launch and explore by paddle. Start by launching at Bowman’s Bay in search of the resident harbor seals and then paddle onto Deception Island. Beach your watercraft and explore this tiny island in search of the amazing views it provides and the occasional whale sighting. Hop back on your watercraft and paddle your way to Rosario Beach while keeping an eye out for the resident harbor porpoise that calls this area home. Here you can explore the tide pools at low tide or layout on the gravel beach for lunch before you start your paddle back to Bowman’s Bay. You will want to be careful and avoid going past Lighthouse Point south of Bowman’s Bay unless you are experienced due to the strong current.
