Sourdough Mountain
Some refer to it as the most difficult hike of the North Cascades, others the most fun. The nearly 3,000-foot ascent over the first 2 miles scares off even the most seasoned hikers, but once you traverse those initial two miles the remaining 2,000-foot climb along the next 3.5 miles is much more gradual. Not to mention, this is where the burning you feel in your legs starts to fall out of mind as the views unfold at the 4-mile mark. Any way you describe it, the views from Sourdough Mountain are some of the most iconic sights in the North Cascades.
